Hi, I'm Gautam Jayasurya, a Human Capital professional driven by curiosity, context, and care. Over the last nine years, I’ve had the privilege of being at the intersection of people, purpose, and performance—working with organizations that shape industries and impact lives. My journey across diverse geographies, sectors, and roles has reinforced one belief: the best HR practices are born at the convergence of empathy, evidence, and execution.
The Beginning: Learning Across Cultures
My tryst with global perspectives began early. As a teenager, I was selected for a fully funded international exchange program to OISCA International High School in Japan, where I spent two formative years. Immersing in a culture rooted in mindfulness and respect gave me my first lens into how environments shape behavior—and how purpose can be designed into systems.
Laying the Legal & Humanistic Foundation
I pursued my undergraduate degree in Law and Humanities from RGNUL, Punjab, where I began understanding the frameworks that govern society and the systems within organizations. Law taught me structure; humanities taught me empathy. The duality has remained my compass.
Learning from the Grassroots: SBI Youth for India Fellowship
After law school, I took an unconventional path and joined the Youth for India Fellowship by the SBI Foundation. Based in rural Tamil Nadu, I worked on community engagement and sustainable livelihood interventions, collaborating with grassroots NGOs and local leaders. Living and learning in close proximity with marginalized communities taught me what no classroom ever could—that dignity, inclusion, and agency are central to any development or HR agenda. This experience deepened my resolve to work at the intersection of systems and people.
The People Pivot: TISS Mumbai
Driven by a passion for people and systems thinking, I joined the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, to pursue a Master’s in Human Resource Management and Labour Relations. At TISS, I explored the many faces of the workplace—from industrial relations to organizational development—and was fortunate to make it to the Top 30 list of India’s Most Employable Management Graduates (InsideIIM, 2019). I also represented TISS at several national business competitions by Tata Group and Reliance Industries.
The Consulting Chapter: Deloitte Human Capital
At Deloitte, I deep-dived into change management, workforce planning, and talent transformation for organizations undergoing M&A, digital transitions, and operating model shifts. From creating a productivity simulation model for 17,000 employees to managing communication strategies for cultural integration, I began to appreciate the power of data-backed, people-first design.
The Builder’s Mindset: BYJU’S
At BYJU’S, as an HR Business Partner and Projects Lead, I worked with Finance, Tech and UK-based teams. I led critical org design initiatives like competency mapping, restructuring, policy harmonization, and performance frameworks. This role sharpened my lens on the nuances of scaling people practices in hypergrowth environments while staying rooted in human experience.
Reimagining Well-being at Scale: Accenture
Currently, I serve as a Talent Strategy Associate Manager at Accenture, where I lead employee Health & Well-being for 350,000+ employees. From strategy to storytelling, from building platforms to launching inclusive benefits portals, I work to embed well-being into the cultural DNA of the organization. My proudest moment? Contributing to Accenture’s ranking among the Top 10 Best Workplaces for Health & Wellness in India (2023 & 2024).
Why This Platform?
Through this platform, I want to document, decode, and democratize the best people practices across organizations. Not the textbook ones—but those that work in context. Whether it’s onboarding, recognition, flexibility, or inclusion—each featured practice is backed by real-world application and impact.
This is not just a directory. It’s a growing garden of HR wisdom—curated for practitioners, students, and curious minds who believe that people practices can be a force for good.

Beyond the Resume: What Moves Me
While my work fuels my purpose, it’s the moments off the clock that sharpen my clarity, resilience, and imagination.
⚽ Fitness, Sports & Running
Whether I’m running a long-distance trail, lifting weights, or chasing a football on the turf, I thrive in motion. Fitness to me isn’t about aesthetics—it’s about functional strength, discipline, and flow. Long-distance running, in particular, is my favourite teacher. Each run brings unfamiliar terrains, fresh faces, shifting weather, and unexpected responses from the body. It’s in this unpredictability that I’ve learned my most important life lessons: Preparation matters. So does patience. Self-belief isn’t optional. And consistency is underrated. In fitness, as in life and work, I’m always becoming a better version of myself.
✍️ Writing
Writing is how I make sense of the world—and myself. It is both my release and my refuge. When an idea simmers for long and finds its way out through words, it offers a strange sense of relief and reflection. For me, writing is not just a tool for communication—it's a bridge to clarity. Whether it’s reflections on a film, a personal essay, or learning from work, I find joy in joining the dots and making meaning. It keeps me curious, candid, and connected.
🌍 Travel
Travel has been my antidote to assumptions. From walking unfamiliar lanes to sharing meals with strangers, every journey has humbled me. I’ve come to realize that truth, values, and even joy—are deeply contextual. What may seem right to me could be unimaginable to someone else, and vice versa. Travel teaches perspective, empathy, and the beauty of diversity. It constantly reminds me to stay open-minded, humble, and in awe of the world’s endless textures.
